Kevin Donovan  

Kevin’s film and television career spans over 25 years starting out with iconic 

kiwi features such as:

Came a Hot Friday and Shaker Run. 

Since then he has worked on over 60 films and television projects as well as numerous commercials.                                                          

He has extensive experience with complex problem solving for traditional rigging,                                              

tracking vehicle and boat work as well as green screen and contemporary visual effects                                          

solutions.   He is collaborative, a creative thinker, a terrific team player, very physical                                              

and has a great sense of humour.  

 

Additionally he is one of the most known and respected members of the NZ film community,                                     

and has long standing relationships with many NZ and international DP’s due to his ability to                               

deliver in style.   He is known for having the loudest laugh on set and is not afraid to use it!

Jim Rowe – Best Boy and Dolly Grip

Jim is Kevin’s Best Boy and main assistant.. He has been working with Kevin since 2000,                                           

starting out as a grip assistant on NZ feature film Jubilee. 

 

He has a background in vehicular mechanics and a strong interest

in engineering and equipment maintenance ensuring a high                                

standard of working safety is in effect for all Motion Slickness equipment

at all times.         

                                     

Motion Slickness trucks each include a full workshop and he can manufacture solutions to                                        

any grip conundrum on the spot.  He also has a great collection of film T-Shirts and                                                  

Crown Lynn china.

Anton Leach – Key Grip

Anton Leach immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa via a stint of several years in                                        

USA where he had been involved in a successful film and television career.  He runs Motion                                   

Slickness Truck 2. 

His most recent work includes several seasons on the Disney project Power Rangers as well as                               

the Eyeworks Touchdown project Burying Brian.  A copy of his CV is here.

  Chris Rawiri – Grip Assistant

Chris complements the Motion Slickness team with his sense of humour and wide range of


film experience in many different departments. He started his career in the hospitality


business as a bar manager for a number of years, managing a number of known watering                                        

holes in the Auckland district. 

He is of Tainui background and although he does not speak fluent Maori is familiar                                                  

with the protocols and can sing a mean Waiata if occasion permits. 

He is a great complement to the diverse range of skills in the Motion Slickness team.

Todd Neville – Grip Assistant

With a background in music and engineering, Todd found the industry in a circuitus way,                                            

and has managed to maintain his two loves.

Winston “Winnie” Harris – Grip Assistant

The youngest member of the team, Winnie Harris has combined a career as an actor                                                

as well as a grip assistant between acting work.  He is enthusiastic and sought out a role                                              

in the grip team after working as an actor on a job with Kevin.
